Monmouthshire Hunt Branch of the Pony Club CAMP 2009 Pontispool from 16th July to 21st July 2009
As you know this year we are moving the main Pony Club Summer Camp to Pontispool Equestrian Centre near Taunton in Somerset. We are very excited about the new opportunities this fantastic venue offers us.
There are three all-weather arenas, and a superb cross-country course with fences from 18” to 3’11” plus two full sets of BSJA show jumps. The cross-country course is set in 200 acres of parkland and there are over 100 fences, with two water complexes and two quarries. The accommodation is in comfortable cabins and the food is reputed to be outstanding! Facilities include fully air conditioned cafe, shower facilities, TV/video, DVD, use of the lecture room/lounge, wheel barrows, lockable tack rooms, etc. More details will follow closer to the date but you will need sufficient clean clothes and for the duration of the camp as we will not be able to provide a laundry service (dark plain coloured jodhpurs will be allowed to be worn for some days).
The camp starts during the early evening of Thursday 16th July leaving at tea time on Tuesday 21st July. For those riders who need to attend school on Friday 17th July it will be possible to join the camp on the Friday evening. We are planning to offer a discount for those missing the first day but this will depend upon the numbers as we have to pay for a minimum of 30 children. Numbers permitting, we plan to refund to the value of the food and accommodation (probably in the region of £20) for those missing the first day of camp.
The camp is open to all members who are aged 11 and over on 1st January 2009 - provided that they can look after their pony and tack up independently.
The full cost of camp this year will be £320 per pony club member. We have previously sent out information on this year’s camp and received replies from quite a few of you and we now need to know who is definitely attending and for you to pay a £50 deposit to secure your place. If we are short of the 30 number required to run a successful camp then we will offer places to The Brecon Pony Club in order that some of their members may join us. We will need to receive completed booking forms with a cheque deposit before the last day in February 2009 in order that we can give the Brecon members notice of any places which may become available. The balance will be due to be paid by the 8th of June 2009.
Included in the fee is accommodation in heated cabins with beds/bunks, excellent food (vegetarians catered for if arranged prior to start of camp) and instruction by well qualified instructors. For your pony/horse; stabling, straw bedding and haylage (hay quality) is included. It will be important that you have your pony/horse’s flu certificate up to date.
The cabins will require that three to five pony club members share a room. Cabins are placed together in a circular yard and there will be adult helpers on hand at all times and sleeping in one of the cabins.
